Calibrate your recommendations
The recommendations are only as sharp as the record they read. Two minutes of honest ratings gives the AI its first sketch of you — everything after that is refinement.
Calibration isn’t a one-time quiz; it’s the start of a running conversation. Here’s how to begin it, and how to keep it accurate.
- Rate the calibration deck. Movieo deals you ten well-known movies. For each one you’ve seen, answer with dislike, like or superlike — ten quick verdicts are enough for a first sketch of your taste.
- Use the other buttons honestly. Haven’t seen it? Skip to the next card — a guess teaches it nothing. Tempted by it? “Want to watch” files the movie straight onto your watchlist.
- Rate what you felt, not what you respect. An aspirational like on a classic you found dull steers future picks toward what you think you should enjoy. The profile follows your answers, so answer as the person who watches, not the person who curates.
- Keep reacting on movie cards. Calibration never really ends: the same dislike / like / superlike reactions live on movie cards everywhere, and every one of them sharpens the next batch. Recent signals carry real weight, so this is also how you recalibrate when your taste drifts.
- Build the seenlist toward 100. AI asks reason from your seen movies, so the more honest history you file — by hand or by importing from IMDb, iCheckMovies or CSV — the better the answers get.
- Then ask in plain words. Once unlocked, type what you’re in the mood for into the ask bar — “a thriller, but not horror, under two hours” or “like Arrival, but lighter” — and get picks ranked from your own record, each with a stated reason and an honest caveat where one applies.
AI asks need at least 100 movies in your seenlist — below that there isn’t enough signal to reason from, so Movieo shows a progress ramp rather than a paywall.
The fastest way to the floor is an import: years of ratings from IMDb or iCheckMovies usually clear it in one go.
Calibration itself has no floor — you can rate the deck, and keep reacting, from day one.
New accounts get 30 days of Movieo Max to test it on their own history.
