How Movieo works

Three moves from catalog to tonight

Movieo starts from your taste and your services, not from what everyone else is watching. How recommendations work

  1. 1

    Tell it your services

Pick your country and the services you pay for. From then on, every shelf can stick to what you can actually stream tonight.

  2. 2

Rate a few films you know

Dislike, like, love or skip. Ten quick answers take about a minute, or import your ratings from IMDb or Letterboxd.

  3. 3

    Get picks with a reason

Every pick says why it is there, like “Because you loved Arrival”, so you can trust it or skip it in a second.

Where to watch

Only what you can actually watch

Tell Movieo which country you are in and which services you have. Turn on My services and every shelf, mood and search keeps to films you can start right now.

Every film page lists where it streams, rents or buys in your country, so the last step is pressing play, not opening five apps.

  • Netflix
  • HBO Max
  • Disney+
  • Prime Video
  • Apple TV+
  • SkyShowtime

Your lists, kept

Everything you have watched, in one place

Watchlist for what looks good, Seen for what you have watched, Not for me for what you never want to see again. Each mark clears noise from the catalog and sharpens your next pick.

Bring your history with you: import your ratings from IMDb or Letterboxd, and export everything whenever you like. Your record stays yours.

Questions

Good to know

Anything else? The full FAQ and help pages go into detail.

Is Movieo free?

Yes. Browsing, filters, your Watchlist, Seen and Not for me lists, your own lists, import and export are free, with no card needed. Studio (€4.99 a month) and Max (€9.99 a month) add personal taste tools, and every new account gets 30 days of Max.

Which countries and streaming services does it cover?

You choose your country and your services, for example Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV+ or SkyShowtime. Each film page shows where it streams, rents or buys in your country. What is available differs between countries and changes over time.

Where does the film data come from?

Film details and posters come from TMDB. Scores come from IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, so you can sort by the one you trust. Movieo uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Can I import my ratings from IMDb or Letterboxd?

Yes. Import the export file from IMDb or Letterboxd and your ratings and watched films land in your Movieo lists. You can export everything from Movieo whenever you like.

What do I need to ask Movieo for films in plain words?

Asking needs Studio or Max and at least 100 films marked as seen. Below that, Movieo does not know your taste well enough to give answers worth reading.

Do you sell my data?

No. Your ratings and lists are used to make your own picks better. The Privacy policy explains what is stored and how to export it.
