Movieo

Ask for a movie the way you’d ask a friend

One ask bar, your whole viewing record behind it. No mood quizzes, no endless swiping — and never a film you’ve already seen.

Asking in plain words

The ask bar takes requests the way a friend would: “a thriller, but not horror, under two hours”, “like Arrival, but lighter”, “hidden gems from the 90s”. Movieo parses the ask into real filters, pulls candidates from its own catalog with everything you’ve seen or hidden already excluded, and has the AI rank only those candidates — writing a reason for every pick, and an honest caveat where one applies.

Alongside the asks sits Tonight’s Pick: one nightly hero pick with its reason attached. Not feeling it? “Not tonight” re-rolls it. And fast picks — instant suggestions that need no ask at all — stay free even after the trial ends.

  1. Calibrate in about two minutes. Rate ten well-known movies — dislike, like or superlike, plus a “want to watch” that files straight to your watchlist. That’s the first sketch of your taste.
  2. Ask for tonight. Type what you’re in the mood for, in plain words. No syntax to learn.
  3. Read the reasons. Every pick explains why it’s in front of you, grounded in your own lists — and admits its caveat when it has one.
  4. React, and sharpen the next batch. Reactions on any movie card keep teaching your taste profile; each new batch reasons from a slightly smarter record.
  5. Check Tonight’s Pick. One pick, nightly, with a reason. Re-roll it if tonight isn’t the night.
Prerequisites

Personal recommendation batches ship with Movieo Studio and Movieo Max, and every new account starts with 30 days of Max free — then keeps one free AI recommendation after the trial. AI asks also need at least 100 movies on your seenlist: below that you’ll see a progress ramp, not a paywall, because there isn’t enough signal to reason from yet.

What it won’t do

It ranks real films from Movieo’s catalog against your record — it can’t invent a title, and it can’t read the room you’re sitting in. It knows what you’ve watched, not your mood tonight; that’s exactly what the ask bar is for. And a pick is a ranked suggestion with a stated reason, not a promise. The full mechanics are on how recommendations work.

New accounts get 30 days of Movieo Max free — judge it on your own history.
