It’s 9pm and nothing looks good
You have about two hours, a couch, and no plan. This is the shortest route from that to a film you can commit to.
The situation
You’ve been scrolling a streaming menu for twenty minutes and everything looks vaguely familiar or vaguely wrong. The problem isn’t a shortage of movies — it’s that nothing on that screen knows what you’ve already seen or would never watch. Movieo starts from your own record, so that noise is gone before you look.
- Open the catalog and cut it down. Cap the runtime at the time you actually have, pick a genre or two that fits your mood, and set a score minimum so the weak options drop out on their own.
- Filter to what you can actually watch. Switch on availability for your country and services, so every remaining poster is a film one of your services can play right now.
- Check your watchlist first. Past-you already saved candidates for exactly this moment. Apply the same runtime and mood filters there before hunting for something new.
- Open a movie, weigh it, decide. Ratings from IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, the trailer, cast, runtime and where it’s available sit on one page. Arrow keys step through the remaining candidates; Escape closes.
- Mark it seen when the credits roll. One click keeps tonight’s film out of every future browse — tomorrow’s search starts cleaner than this one did.
The Premium shortcut
With Premium you can skip the manual narrowing and just ask, in plain words: “a thriller, but not horror, under two hours.” Movieo parses that into real filters, pulls candidates from its own catalog with everything you’ve seen or hidden excluded, and an AI ranks only those candidates — writing a reason for each pick, and an honest caveat where one applies.
There’s also Tonight’s Pick: one nightly hero pick with its reason attached. Not feeling it? “Not tonight” re-rolls it.
The filter-and-watchlist flow above is free forever. The ask bar and Tonight’s Pick are Premium; every new account gets 30 days of Movieo Max to try them on its own history. AI asks also need at least 100 movies in your seenlist — below that, Movieo shows a progress ramp, not a paywall.
No account needed to browse. A free account remembers what you’ve seen.
