There are good sports movies, indifferent sports movies, and bad sports movies. The Replacements in nestled somewhere between the latter two.

Overview
Maverick old-guard coach Jimmy McGinty is hired in the wake of a players' strike to help the Washington Sentinels advance to the playoffs. But that impossible dream hinges on whether his replacements can hunker down and do the job. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes
Top critics, in their words
An agreeably and unapologetically lightweight late-summer blockbuster.
Don't be fooled. The movie is bad -- very, very bad.
While there's plenty in this movie that's mildly funny, The Replacements is nothing more than a high school romp.
Surprisingly likable.
