At once a spoof of, and loving tribute to, '70s-era visions of the future, Space Station 76 nods to 2001 in numerous ways.

Overview
A comedic drama about a group of people (and several robots) living on a space station in a 1970’s-version of the future. When a new Assistant Captain arrives, she inadvertently ignites tensions among the crew, prompting them to confront their darkest secrets. Barely contained lust, jealousy, and anger all bubble to the surface, becoming just as dangerous as the asteroid that’s heading right for them.

Critics on Rotten Tomatoes
Top critics, in their words
This may look like a wacky spoof of 1970s sci-fi, but Jack Plotnick's beautifully designed comedy-drama actually has a lot more on its mind.
"Space Station 76" stretches every penny, from the curving white walls of the station to the men's wide-collared shirts, but it also demonstrates the kind of talentand determination that no amount of money can buy a filmmaker who doesn't have them.
It's hard to say what the creators of "Space Station 76" were aiming for. But whatever it was, they didn't achieve it.
A protracted, scattershot comedy sketch that never quite nails its tone.
