Overview

It can be tough to be a kid. Especially if you're not part of the gang. Foul is a humorous and melancholy everyday odyssey; a road movie that follows a ten-year-old girl through all the resistance she experiences on a normal winter day in Norway.

It's inspiring to see a unique talent finally get his due, even if - or maybe because - it took until his late 70s to get there.

Gary Goldstein, Los Angeles Times
Fresh

It's a portrait of the artist as a charmingly uncompromising septuagenarian.

Sheri Linden, Hollywood Reporter
Fresh

An illuminating portrait of the artist as a hermetic, self-doubting, obsessive-compulsive perfectionist.

Scott Foundas, Variety
Rotten

Mr. Foulkes overwhelms this documentary, which buys into his one-man band a little too much.

Nicolas Rapold, New York Times
Fresh

While his obsessiveness seems neurotic, and watching this film is not always comfortable, it also seems to be all part of the process.

Daphne Howland, Village Voice
