It serves up just the right combination of silly and sly, and -- rare and wonderful in a comedy -- it knows when to get off the court.

Critics on Rotten Tomatoes
Top critics, in their words
Funny thing is, even with its flaws, the comedy actually did do something remarkable - it made me want to sit down and watch a game of tennis.
If it were more straight-faced, "7 Days in Hell" could work better.
It's hard to imagine that the pitch session for the regrettably unfunny 7 Days in Hell... actually produced anything more than a polite "no thanks" from the usually discerning network. The bottled water in that meeting must have been gin.
Perhaps inevitably for a documentary spoof chronicling an exercise in (albeit fictional) endurance, 7 Days in Hell starts with considerable promise before gradually running out of gas.
